A Ripstick & a Concussion
Today is another combined post.
For more participants visit Thankful Thursday or Thursday Thirteen.

  3. She hit her head hard enough that she was unconscious.
  4. She lost her sight.
  5. She was answering questions posed to her but not remembering 2 minutes later that we asked her anything.

  7. We headed to the ER.
  8. She vomited a few times and then her sight returned.
  9. Two cat scans, an x-ray, and a lot of waiting time later we returned home.
  10. She has a severe concussion.
  11. She still has symptoms and can continue to for up to a month.
  12. She now knows she must always wear a helmet!
  13. I am so thankful for God's protecting hand over my children.

Bits of Randomness
Thirteen Bits of Randomness

  1. You might have noticed I have been a bit random in doing memes lately. I have moved to doing whichever one comes the easiest at the time rather than sticking to them on a regular basis. Sorry about that but right now easiest is the best.
  2. I had my first OB appointment yesterday but it is still too early and we did not hear a heart beat yet. I will have to wait until next time.
  3. I have an ultrasound scheduled for May 12th!
  4. They are going to finish resurfacing our street today. It is a good thing I am not going anywhere!
  5. I have to finish filling out a mortgage application. I do not know how we are going to qualify for enough for the size of a home we need, have you seen the prices for a 5-6 bedroom in the Anchorage area??? Ouch! It is double than what we pay here! We may end up having to rent!
  6. 68 days until we pull out of town and head to Alaska.
  7. One month until I head to the midwest to visit my parents and siblings.
  8. I am still dealing with morning sickness and feeling a bit crummy but I am hoping it passes in the next couple of weeks.
  9. I cannot wait to move somewhere without the big nasty Texas bugs that are creeping into my house!
  10. Only 3 more weeks and we are finished with Sunday evening programs and AWANA.
  11. Only 4 more weeks of piano.
  12. We only have 2 out of our 6 spring birthdays left to celebrate which is good because we are running out of money with that many birthdays!
  13. Randomness is the state of this pregnant lady's mind and you are stuck with it for the next 7 months! If I can get anything coherent out then I am doing pretty well!

Thankful Thursday Thirteen
This week I thought that I would combine Thankful Thursday and Thursday Thirteen.

Psalm 50:23
The one who offers thanksgiving as his sacrifice glorifies me;
to one who orders his way rightly
I will show the salvation of God!”

I am thankful for.......
  1. The birds and their songs. The way they brighten a day when it is the first thing you hear as you wake up.
  2. Little baby cuddles that let you know you are blessed and loved.
  3. A husband that works so hard for his family.
  4. To have a godly husband who seeks the Lord daily.
  5. To live in such a great nation that at least at its beginnings recognized God and his sovereignty.
  6. To have the freedom to worship.
  7. For my husband to have the privilege of serving this great nation in the military. To defend the rights of others, even those who treat the military and their own nation so poorly.
  8. To stay home with my children, barefoot and pregnant in the kitchen is actually a good thing!
  9. To know like-minded Christians and to be able to encourage each other.
  10. That my morning sickness is not as bad as it typically is and I can function almost as I usually do.
  11. For the rain and the refreshing it brings.
  12. For the sunshine and the fact that I have air conditioning!
  13. For a life that far exceeds what I could have ever imagined having as a child.

You Might be a Large Family If.........

  1. You take up a whole pew at church.
  2. When you laugh and shake your head at so called "family-sized" products.
  3. Cheaper by the Dozen is one of your favorite movies.
  4. You buy milk 5 gallons at a time.
  5. You need a minimum of 2 carts in the grocery store.
  6. The children are lonely when there are only 4 of them home.
  7. People ask "are they all yours?"
  8. You leave half of the children home when you shop, and people still ask if they're all yours.
  9. You own at least three sets of bunkbeds.
  10. Your grocery budget resembles your house payment.
  11. You just really wish people would not think they were clever for saying, "Don't you know what causes that?"
  12. You have forgotten how many times you have been asked, "Are you Mormon or Catholic?"
  13. When you see photos of castles and grand mansions, all you can think is how many bedrooms it has (YES!), and how much space all those other rooms provide for the kids to mess up (NO WAY!).

Can You Guess These 13 Movie Quotes?
Here are quotes from 13 of my favorite movies, one per movie. Can you guess which movies they are without doing a search?

  1. I was just thinking that of all the trails in this life there is one that matters most. It is the trail of a true human being. I think you are on this trail and it is good to see.
  2. This list... is an absolute good. The list is life. All around its margins lies the gulf.
  3. You made Mrs. March feel like she could see again. You made Ford believe he was part of something. You give out hope like it was candy in your pocket.
  4. You must know... surely, you must know it was all for you. You are too generous to trifle with me. I believe you spoke with my aunt last night, and it has taught me to hope as I'd scarcely allowed myself before. If your feelings are still what they were last April, tell me so at once. My affections and wishes have not changed, but one word from you will silence me forever. If, however, your feelings have changed, I will have to tell you: you have bewitched me, body and soul, and I love, I love, I love you. I never wish to be parted from you from this day on.
  5. Well, ain't this place a geographical oddity. Two weeks from everywhere!
  6. Perhaps, instead of asking questions of our trials, our trials are ment to ask questions of ourselves.
  7. Life is a storm, my young friend. You will bask in the sunlight one moment, be shattered on the rocks the next. What makes you a man is what you do when that storm comes. You must look into that storm and shout as you did in Rome. Do your worst, for I will do mine! Then the fates will know you as we know you: as Albert Mondego, the man!
  8. Female: When we are married, will you dance with me? I find dancing very agreeable. Why can you not say what is in your head?
Male: Why can you not stop saying what is in yours? Why must you lead, when I want to lead? If I want to dance I will ask you to dance. If I want to speak I will open my mouth and speak. Everyone is forever plaguing me to speak further. Why? What good is it to tell you you are in my every thought from the time I wake? What good can come from my saying that I sometimes cannot think clearly or do my work properly? What gain can rise of my telling you the only time I feel fear as others do is when I think of you in harm? That is why I am on this porch, Ivy Walker. I fear for your safety before all others. And yes, I will dance with you on our wedding night.
  9. You have been weighed, you have been measured, and you have been found wanting.
  10. You smell like beef and cheese, you don't smell like Santa.
  11. Moses supposes his toeses are roses, but Moses supposes erroneously. Moses he knowses his toeses aren't roses as Moses supposes his toeses to be.
  12. Adam, you’re my eldest brother. Now I've always looked up to ya, tried to ape ya. But today I'm ashamed of you. Now I know you can lick me, lick the tar outta me! But I wouldn't hold myself no kinda man unless I showed ya how I felt! [punches him]
  13. There's a difference between us. You think the people of this country exist to provide you with position. I think your position exists to provide those people with freedom. And I go to make sure that they have it.

  9. Christ is the most perfect image of God, into which we are so renewed as to bear the image of God, in knowledge, purity, righteousness, and true holiness. John Calvin
  10. Christian holiness is not a matter of painstaking conformity to the individual precepts of an external law code; it is rather a question of the Holy Spirit's producing His fruit in the life, reproducing those graces which were seen in perfection in the life of Christ. F.F. Bruce
  11. Holiness is the end of redemption, for Christ gave Himself for us that He might redeem us from all iniquity and purify unto Himself a peculiar people zealous of good works. Charles Hodge
  12. A holy life will produce the deepest impression. Lighthouses blow no horns; they only shine. Dwight L. Moody
  13. It is an undoubted truth that every doctrine that comes from God, leads to God; and that which doth not tend to promote holiness is not of God. George Whitefield
