I Spy
Hubby took this photo in Idaho at Priest Lake. There are four baby chicks in this photo, can you find them? You might have to open in another window for a close up. The Lord's camouflage is awesome!

Heavy
This week's Photo Hunt theme is heavy. So here are some heavy facts about elephants!
- Elephants weigh approximately 10,000 pounds. The typical weight range is between 7,000 13,200 lbs.
- Elephant trunks can get very heavy. It is not uncommon to see elephants resting them over a tusk!
- They poop 80 pounds in one day.
- The largest tusk ever recorded weighed 214 pounds and was 138 inches long. Because tusk size is an inherited characteristic, it is rare to find one now that would weigh more than 100 pounds.
- The sole of the elephant's foot is covered with a thick, cushionlike padding that helps sustain weight, prevents slipping and deadens sound.

13 Things About The Shetland Sheepdog

Thursday ThirteenOur family has had several pets over the many years but the ones we have had the longest are the two dogs we currently own. We have two Shelties, Annie & Shiloh. They are of sable coloring, meaning they look like the dog in the middle above. For a bit of fun, since I love my dogs, I thought I would share 13 things about Shelties.
13 Things About Shelties
- Sheltie is short for Shetland Sheepdog, a herding breed that originates from the Shetland Islands near Scotland.
- Shelties are often called "miniature collies" because they look similar to rough collies only in miniature sizes, but they are actually a totally separate breed .
- They are excellent with children and are great for a large family (they are herding dogs!)
- There are three main colors for Shelties; Black, blue merle, and sable (ranging from golden through mahogany)and can be marked with varying amounts of white and/or tan.
- The Shetland Sheepdog is intensely loyal, affectionate, and responsive to his owner.
- With strangers they are often shy and timid.
- When running they often look as if they are prancing, they are a very graceful looking dog.
- Their life expectancy is 12-15 years.
- Their height should be between 13-16 inches at the shoulders.
- They should only weigh between 14-27 pounds. (mine are on a diet!!)
- When bored they do tend to bark a lot.
- They have a double coat, an outer coat of long, straight, harsh hair and a short & furry undercoat.
- They are adorable!!!
