This past Sunday evening there was much rejoicing. Two of our children were baptized!

Acts 2:38-39
And Peter said to them, “Repent and be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the forgiveness of your sins, and you will receive the gift of the Holy Spirit. For the promise is for you and for your children and for all who are far off, everyone whom the Lord our God calls to himself.”

They were asked several questions in front of a small congregation and gave their testimony in that way. I video taped the questions EXCEPT for the first two questions (I couldn't remember how to work my camera). The questions not on the video are:
1. What is the sign of baptism? Answer: Washing with water
2. What does the washing with water represent? Answer: that we are untied with Christ and cleansed from sin by his blood.

Q. 119. What are the sins forbidden in the fourth commandment?

A. The sins forbidden in the fourth commandment are, all omissions of the duties required,[1] all careless, negligent, and unprofitable performing of them, and being weary of them;[2] all profaning the day by idleness, and doing that which is in itself sinful;[3]and by all needless works, words, and thoughts, about our worldly employments and recreations.[4]

At worship yesterday, the children had a small presentation (preschoolers through sixth grade). We have only been attending this church for the last few weeks but it was easy for my children since they already knew the material; we cover it at home. Now it wasn't a cute little skit or play and it wasn't sweet little songs, but we were blessed beyond measure. The children recited answers to the catechism for the church. It was a great blessing to see and hear the children blessing us with the truths of scriptural doctrine. They are learning about God, who He is, and what pleases Him; then they are sharing it with others. What more could someone want??

Teach your children what the real meaning of life is. Ask them throughout the day if what they are doing is glorifying to God. Praise them when they do something that is glorifying to God. Cement in their minds daily the importance of glorifying God in ALL we say and do. Pray with them as they repent and seek forgiveness when they fail to glorify God in their words or actions. Apologize to your children, after getting right with the Lord, for your own failings in glorifying the Creator. This is a lesson for me as well, one I will continually try to work on. Lord, help me to glorify You and in so doing teach my children to glorify You. Amen

I am persuaded that the use of a good Catechism in all our families will be a great safeguard against the increasing errors of the times, and therefore I have compiled this little manual from the Westminster Assembly's and Baptist Catechisms, for the use of my own church and congregation. Those who use it in their families or classes must labour to explain the sense; but the words should be carefully learned by heart, for they will be understood better as years pass. May the Lord bless my dear friends and their families evermore, isthe prayer of their loving Pastor.
