ANYWAY! All this to say, that I was a bit curious as to why I cannot seem to see any other colors lately. I looked up what emotions are tied to these colors.
Green
Physiological Effect: Green is said to be good for you heart. On a physical and emotional, green helps your heart bring you physical equilibrium and relaxation. Green relaxes our muscles and helps us breathe deeper and slower.
Psychological Effect: Green creates feelings of comfort, laziness, relaxation, calmness. It helps us balance and soothe our emotions. Some attribute this to its connection with nature and our natural feelings of affiliation with the natural world when experiencing the color green. Yet, darker and grayer greens can have the opposite effect. These olive green colors remind us of decay and death and can actually have a detrimental effect on physical and emotional health. Note that sickened cartoon characters always turned green.
Brown
Psychological Effect: Brown is the color of the earth and ultimately home. This color brings feelings of stability and security. Sometimes brown can also be associated with withholding emotion and retreating from the world.
After just moving and trying to set up a home, apparently, I am in need of comfort, calmness, and relaxation. This makes sense since I do deal with anxiety disorder. Also the earthy colors tend to make a place seem more like home, this is definitely needed after a move. As for the detrimental effects, I do not think that has effected me too much, nothing a good chocolate bar and a hug from my hubby cannot fix! WAIT! Chocolate, that is brown too! ACTUALLY, I did happen to buy a snickers yesterday and it had Shrek (whom I hate) on the package and the filling was colored green!Labels: journal

My living room is painted green and I love it! It's the perfect color for relaxing; actually, in the summer, it can be too relaxing, but that's why we have a nice couch to sleep on.
My dining room is also green, a deeper, more olivy green than the living room. I'm not certain that is the best dining room color, perhaps it explains why we're all slim, though. LOL
In our previous home, the family room was a mid-brown, sort of a taupe. This house doesn't have a family room, and I wanted the living room green, so we painted our bedroom the brown. That works. - At June 20, 2007 10:14 AM, MamaArcher said...

I never knew that about your house! That is neat. I have not actually painted the walls but would like to. We are going to be here for such a short time it is not worth it to paint. We id paint the little girls room green when we lived up north.
We redid some bookshelves though and they are green and our sheers are green.
I would love to paint my bedroom a light brown/taupe color but it will have to wait until we are going to be somewhere for a longer period of time.
burgundy/wine is my other favorite color!!! - At June 22, 2007 3:31 PM, Rebecca said...

Guess what? My wooden valances, front door, and other trim in the living and dining rooms are burgundy/wine color.
I should have had you over. - At June 22, 2007 7:26 PM, MamaArcher said...
